What Clarice is

A personal system for planning days, keeping commitments and retaining what you write. It is owned by Vinclarice, LLC, run day to day by one person, and invitation-only while it is being built: anyone can ask for an account, and each one is reviewed by hand before it opens. Confirming your email address is your step; approving the account is ours, and we may decline without giving a reason.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself and keep it good. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us at support@vinclarice.com if you think somebody else has got into it.

If you create access tokens for a phone or another client, they act as you within the permissions you gave them. Revoke any you are not using.

One account per person, and give a real email address — it is the only way to confirm the account, reset a password, or warn you that something is about to be deleted.

What you write stays yours

Everything you put into Clarice belongs to you. Using the service grants no licence to it beyond what running the service requires: storing it, showing it back to you, backing it up, and emailing you the summaries you asked for.

It is not used to train anything, not published, and not shown to other users — there is no sharing feature, so there is no accidental way for your material to reach anyone else.

You can take a full copy at any time from your preferences page, and you do not need to ask.

Reasonable use

Do not use Clarice to break the law, to store material you have no right to hold, to attack or overload the service, or to get at anyone else's account. Automated access is fine through the documented API with your own token, at a sensible rate; scraping and load-testing somebody else's server are not.

Accounts doing any of that can be suspended, and where it is serious, removed.

Ending it

You can delete your account whenever you like, from your preferences page. It is scheduled 30 days ahead and cancellable by signing in during that time; after that everything is destroyed permanently. Take the export first.

Vinclarice, LLC can close an account for the reasons above. If Clarice itself is ever shut down, anyone with an account gets at least 30 days' notice by email and the export keeps working for the whole of it. Nothing disappears without warning.

What is not promised

Clarice is provided as it is. There is no guaranteed uptime, no guaranteed support response, and no promise that a feature will keep working the way it does today. One person runs this on one server, and pretending otherwise would be the dishonest part.

Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Backups exist and are exercised, but the export button is there precisely so that your data's survival does not depend on ours.

To the extent the law allows, the liability of Vinclarice, LLC for any loss arising from using Clarice is limited to what you have paid for it — which, while it is free, is nothing. That is not a trick: it is the honest size of a promise a one-person project can back.

If this changes

The date at the top changes, and anything that materially affects you — a charge, a reduction in what you get, a change in who holds your data — is emailed to account holders before it takes effect. Carrying on using Clarice after that means accepting it; if you would rather not, export and delete.

Clarice is free while it is being built. If it ever costs money, that is a material change and gets its own email, with notice.
