Clarice writes down what you chose on the morning you chose it, and never edits that line. So the number at the end of the week is one you can believe.
Eight commitments, pinned across the week. The date is when each was chosen — not when it was due, and not when it was last touched.
Released is not missed. On Wednesday you decided the terms could wait. Clarice records that as a decision — and takes it out of the sum entirely, because counting a decommitment as a failure would be the product disagreeing with you.
Two are still open. They stay open. Nothing rolls forward at midnight, and no due date is quietly rewritten to keep a streak alive.
A conventional task app would show you 100%. Not by lying — by dividing by what was still due on Friday. Move two due dates during the week, which every one of them lets you do silently, and the denominator moves with them. Clarice can't, because it kept the line you wrote on the morning you wrote it.
The marks
Every other tool has the first and the last. The middle one is the whole difference between a record and a scoreboard.
“Five lessons this week” is not five tasks. It's one commitment measured toward a number.
So it takes partial credit, a deliberate skip, and a pause — and the history survives you changing the routine, because what happened isn't stored in the plan.
Not as a policy. The activity log is append-only at the database, with one documented exception that exists so account deletion can work at all.
Your data exports in full, and deleting your account removes it from Clarice.
